The 2022 National Police Shooting Championships

The NRA is pleased to announce that the 2022 National Police Shooting Championships (NPSC) will be conducted as a Postal Match. This will allow more competitors to participate, and many ranges across the country will be able to conduct the NPSC Postal Tournaments. The principal host range will remain the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers Training Academy in Pearl, Mississippi.
Given current pressures on law enforcement budgets, this format will be considerably less expensive for competitors to attend, as participating ranges may require less travel expense, than one location, as the NPSC was previously conducted. The NRA cancelled the 2020 and 2021 NPSCs due to the pandemic. This Postal Match format reduces the risk of yet another cancellation.
The 2022 Championships are being reformatted to increase involvement by law enforcement agencies and members from across the country and enhance participant recognition. We will also continue the NRA’s outstanding partnership with the state of Mississippi and the Mississippi Highway Patrol as the host of the National Police Shooting Championships.
The 2022 National Police Shooting Championships will be conducted by the Mississippi Highway Patrol at the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers’ Training Academy in Pearl, Mississippi. The Highway Patrol will also be offering their Police Pistol Combat Regional and organized practice days just before NPSC, as in years past.
During the same time frame, NPSC Postal Tournaments will be conducted around the country as part of the NPSC program. This will allow competitors who cannot attend this year – or who have never been able to attend the Championships due to the time constraints, the travel costs involved, or potential and ongoing Covid restrictions in their area or at their agencies – a chance to participate in the NPSC program.
Competitors seeking to achieve an NPSC National Record or an NPSC National Champion status will want to shoot at the main NPSC location in Pearl, Mississippi. Competitors firing at NPSC postal locations will be part of the Postal National Championship Awards Schedule and will be eligible for regular Registered Tournament National Records.
